About the Ministry
Adventist Community Services exists to meet the needs of local communities across North America. This community outreach ministry is comprised of volunteer members who seek to “serve the community in Christ’s name”. Services include disaster response, community development and emotional and spiritual care. This ministry is possible only through the work of dedicated volunteers who give of their time on a regular basis. MEET THE MINISTRY DIRECTORS
Jerry Waggoner has served as Adventist Community Services (ACS) Director for the Nevada-Utah Conference since October 2017. He previously served as District Pastor for the Nevada-Utah Conference since April 2001, and as volunteer ACS Director starting in January 2015. Jerry previously served as District Pastor in Arkansas-Louisiana Conference beginning in 1981, following a 14-year career as a city firefighter for Bossier City, Louisiana, where he attained the rank and position of captain/arson investigator. Jerry has a degree in religion from Southern Adventist College (now University) in Collegedale, Tennessee. He is a native of Bossier City, Louisiana and is married to Debra Waggoner. They enjoy his three daughters, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Debra Waggoner has served as Adventist Community Services Associate Director at the Nevada-Utah Conference since June 1, 2017. Debra received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University while also completing the two-year professional program of the US Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp. Upon graduation, Debra served nearly six years in the US Air Force. In the intervening years, Debra became a licensed real estate agent, licensed financial planner, State of Nevada gaming investigator, and a State of Nevada administrative officer for Medicaid medical rate development. Debra is a native of Thornton, Colorado and is married to Pastor Jerry Waggoner. Their life started together 23 years ago, and they enjoy Jerry’s three daughters, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
